Musa'id bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (Arabic: مساعد بن عبد العزيز آل سعود; 26 June 1923 – 19 August 2013) was a Saudi Arabian prince and businessman. He was the twelfth son of King Abdulaziz, who founded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prince Musa'id was also the father of Faisal bin Musaid, who was involved in a very sad event concerning his half-brother, King Faisal.

Prince Musa'id: Early Life and Family
Prince Musa'id was born in 1923. His father was King Abdulaziz, the first king of Saudi Arabia. His mother was Jawhara bint Saad bin Abdul Muhsin Al Sudairi. Before marrying King Abdulaziz, Jawhara was married to his brother, Sa'ad bin Abdul Rahman. He passed away in 1915. After Jawhara's death, her sister Haya also married King Abdulaziz. Haya was the mother of Princes Badr, Abdul Majid, and Abdul Illah.
Prince Musa'id had two full brothers, Prince Saad and Prince Abdul Muhsin. He also had one full sister, Princess Al Bandari.
Prince Musa'id's Personal Life
After oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia, Prince Musa'id and his brothers often spent time in European cities. These included places like Paris and London.
Prince Musa'id married Watfa, who was a daughter of Muhammad bin Talal. Muhammad bin Talal was the last emir of the Rashidi dynasty. Their son, Faisal bin Musaid, was born in Riyadh in 1944. Prince Musa'id later divorced Watfa. His children from Watfa were very close to their mother's family, the Rashidis.
A sad event happened in 1965. Prince Musa'id's son, Khaled, passed away during a protest in Riyadh. This protest was about the introduction of television in Saudi Arabia. The exact details of his death are not fully clear. No official investigation into his death was ever started. This event was very difficult for Prince Musa'id.
Prince Musa'id had another son named Bandar and a daughter named Al Jawhara. Prince Bandar later became a member of the Allegiance Council in 2014. Prince Musa'id also had another son, Abdul Rahman bin Musaid, from a later marriage. Another son, Abdullah bin Musa'id, is a businessman. He is known for owning the football club Sheffield United.
A Difficult Event for the Royal Family
On 25 March 1975, Prince Musa'id's son, Faisal, went to the Royal Palace in Riyadh. King Faisal was holding a special meeting there. Prince Faisal joined a group of visitors who were waiting to meet the King. The King recognized his nephew and leaned forward to greet him. At that moment, Prince Faisal used a weapon, and King Faisal was seriously injured.
The King was quickly taken to a hospital, but doctors could not save him. Prince Faisal was arrested right away. He was later found responsible for the King's death. This was a very shocking and sad time for the royal family and the country. Prince Faisal's brother, Bandar, was also held for a time but was released later.
Prince Musa'id's Later Years
Prince Musa'id did not hold any major official jobs in the government. He lived a more private life. The sad event involving his son, Faisal, may have also affected his public standing. He gradually lost his eyesight after his first son, Khaled, passed away. Prince Musa'id was known for living a simple and religious life.
Passing of Prince Musa'id
The Royal Diwan, which is the King's office, announced that Prince Musa'id passed away on 19 August 2013. At the time of his death, he was the second oldest living son of King Abdulaziz. Only Prince Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was older. Funeral prayers for Prince Musa'id were held at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh the next day. A three-day period of mourning was also announced for his passing.
