Where is Muskeg River Located?

Muskeg River is found in a scenic part of Alberta. It sits right where two important roads meet: the Bighorn Highway (also known as Highway 40) and the Forestry Trunk Road. This spot is about 35 kilometers (or 22 miles) east of a town called Grande Cache.

The area around Muskeg River is quite high up! It has an elevation of about 1,250 meters (or 4,100 feet) above sea level. This means it's located in a hilly or mountainous region, which often has beautiful views and cooler temperatures.

The Muskeg River Itself

The community of Muskeg River gets its name from the actual Muskeg River that flows right through it. This river is an important natural feature of the area. After passing through the locality, the Muskeg River continues its journey northwards until it joins a larger river called the Smoky River. Rivers like these are vital for the local environment, providing water for plants and animals.
