The Story of Juanito and Pepito
This book tells the story of a boy named Juanito. He and his family have just moved to New York City from Puerto Rico. Juanito feels very sad because he only speaks Spanish. He has no one to talk with in his new city.
Searching for a Lost Friend
To make things worse, Juanito's dog, Pepito, goes missing! Juanito knows his new neighbors won't understand him if he says "Mi perro se ha perdido" (which means "My dog is lost"). So, he bravely goes to a bank. There, he asks a kind man to help him write a sign in English.
An Adventure Across New York
With his new sign, Juanito begins his search. Soon, different children from all over New York City join him. They help him look for Pepito in many famous neighborhoods.
