Myrtle Stedman (born Myrtle Lincoln) was an American actress. She was a main star in early movies, especially silent films, starting in 1910. Later, she became known for playing interesting supporting characters.

About Myrtle Stedman
Myrtle Lincoln was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 3, 1883. She went to Mrs. Starett's School and the Chicago School of Acting. Her family later moved to Colorado because her father worked in mining there.
In January 1900, Myrtle married Marshall Stedman. He was a drama school teacher. They had one son, Lincoln Stedman. They divorced in 1920.
In 1915, Myrtle made history. She was the first woman chosen for the Motion Picture Board of Trade of America. This was a big step for women in the film industry.
Her Music Career
Myrtle Stedman started her career as a solo dancer. She performed with the Whitney Opera Company in Chicago. She loved light opera, which is a fun type of musical theater.
She starred for many seasons in shows like Isle of Spice and The Chocolate Soldier. She also performed for a year at the Whitney Theater. She was a lead singer, or prima donna, for the Chicago Grand Opera Company. She even studied voice in France with a famous teacher named Marchesi.
Her Film Career
Myrtle Stedman started acting in movies in 1910. Her first films were short Western and action movies made by the Selig studio. She was the only female actress in Selig's company at that time. This meant she played the main female role in all their Westerns.
Some of her well-known movies include Flaming Youth, The Valley of the Moon, The Dangerous Age, and The Famous Mrs. Fair.
After working at Selig, Myrtle joined the Hobart Bosworth Productions Company. She also worked for big studios like Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Famous Players-Lasky. She stopped acting in 1931. However, in 1936, she signed a contract with Warner Brothers. She took on smaller roles and extra parts. She was still working for Warner Bros. when she passed away.
In 1917, Myrtle went on a 10-week tour across the United States. She met fans at theaters that showed her films. After the tour, she planned to start her own film company in New York. Her last movie was Accidents Will Happen, released in 1938.
Her Passing
Myrtle Stedman died on January 8, 1938. She was 52 years old and passed away from a heart attack. She was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.
