Early Life and Learning
Márta Lacza was born in 1946 in Csepel, a part of Budapest, Hungary. She loved art from a young age. In 1967, she finished high school for fine arts. Later, from 1970 to 1974, she studied at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. Her teachers there were Simon Sarkantyú and Károly Raszler.
After her studies, Márta Lacza started showing her artwork. She has had many art shows by herself in Hungary and other countries. Her art has been seen in big cities like London, Hamburg, and Copenhagen.
Awards and Recognition
Márta Lacza received a special award called the Derkovits Scholarship from 1980 to 1983. This scholarship helps young artists. In 1983, she won the important Munkácsy Prize for her amazing work.
In March 1982, a TV show about her art was broadcast. It was called The TV gallery. Lacza Martha graphic artist. This show helped more people learn about her talent.
She also took part in an international art program in Belgium. It was for graphic artists. She was invited back to this program for fourteen years! She also worked with an art studio in Norway called Atelier Nord.

Márta Lacza has drawn pictures for many books. One of her most famous works is illustrating the Hungarian versions of the Anne of Green Gables series. These are popular children's books by Lucy Maud Montgomery. She also illustrated Hungarian folktales, like The Silver King's Flute.
She and her husband, Dékány Ágoston, also illustrated books for grown-ups. These included academic books about history and archaeology. Márta Lacza wrote a book about her own life and art. It is called Élet és Művészet (Life and Art) and was published in 2007.
