Mézidon-Canon was a small town, also known as a commune, located in the northwest of France. It was part of the region called Basse-Normandie and belonged to the Calvados department.
History of Mézidon-Canon
How Mézidon-Canon Was Formed
Mézidon-Canon was created on 9 September 1972. This happened when two smaller towns, Mézidon and Canon, decided to join together. They merged to form one larger commune.
Later Changes to the Commune
On 1 January 2017, Mézidon-Canon itself became part of an even newer and larger commune. This new commune is called Mézidon Vallée d'Auge. So, Mézidon-Canon is no longer a separate commune on its own.
