It was created by two big train companies, JR Central and JR West. The N700 series started running in 2007. It travels on the Tokaido and San'yō Shinkansen lines. Another company, JR Kyushu, also uses it on the Kyushu Shinkansen line.

What Makes the N700 Special?

The N700 series is known for its speed and comfort. It's designed to be very efficient. This train helps people travel across Japan quickly.

Tilting Technology

One cool feature is its tilting system. When the train enters a curve, it leans slightly. This makes the ride smoother for passengers. It also allows the train to maintain high speeds.

Speed and Power

The N700 series can reach very high speeds. It's one of the fastest trains in the world. This power comes from its advanced electric motors. They help it accelerate quickly.

Comfort for Passengers

Inside, the N700 is designed for comfort.

  • It has wide seats.
  • There's plenty of legroom.
  • Some cars have special "Green Car" seats. These are like first-class seats.
  • There are also quiet cars for a peaceful journey.

Different Types of N700 Trains

Over the years, different versions of the N700 series have been made. Each version has small improvements.

The N700A is an improved version. The 'A' stands for 'Advanced'. It has better brakes and a more efficient design. Many original N700 trains were updated to become N700A.

N700S (Supreme)

The N700S is the newest generation. It's even more advanced.

  • It uses less energy.
  • It's quieter.
  • It has new features for passenger comfort.
  • The N700S can be built with different numbers of cars. This makes it very flexible.
