Discovering NEMA: Chicago's New Skyscraper
NEMA is a huge building project happening in Chicago. When it's finished, it will be one of the tallest buildings in the city. It's designed to be a place where people can live, offering many apartments.
Building Features and Design
The NEMA skyscraper is planned to have 792 apartments. Imagine how many families could live there! The building will stand about 892 feet (271.9 m) tall. That's almost as tall as three football fields stacked on top of each other!
A famous architect named Rafael Viñoly designed NEMA. An architect is someone who plans and draws how buildings will look. He designed NEMA as the first part of a bigger plan.
The Future of the Area
The NEMA building is just the beginning of a three-part project. The second part will be an even taller building with 648 apartments. The third part will include 100 townhouses, which are like smaller homes joined together. This final phase will also add a public park for everyone to enjoy. This whole project will bring many new homes and green spaces to the Central Station neighborhood.
