The NXT North American Championship is a special wrestling title in WWE. It is a championship for male wrestlers in NXT. This title is one of the top prizes for men in NXT.

About the NXT North American Championship

The NXT North American Championship was created on March 7, 2018. It became the second most important men's championship in NXT. William Regal, who was the NXT commissioner at the time, announced the new title.

How the First Champion Was Crowned

To decide the first champion, a special type of match was held. This match was called a ladder match. Six wrestlers competed in it:

  • EC3
  • Killian Dain
  • Adam Cole
  • Ricochet
  • Lars Sullivan
  • Velveteen Dream

This exciting match took place at an event called NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. Adam Cole won the match and became the very first NXT North American Champion.

Current Champion

The current champion is Velveteen Dream. He won the title in February 2019. Velveteen Dream defeated Johnny Gargano to become the new champion.
