The NXT North American Championship is a wrestling title owned by WWE and competed for by the men of NXT. It was created as NXT's second-most-important men's championship on March 7, 2018, on an episode of NXT. On that episode, NXT commissioner, William Regal said that there would be a ladder match between EC3, Killian Dain, Adam Cole, Ricochet, Lars Sullivan, and Velveteen Dream to decide the first champion. The match happened at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans and Adam Cole won it to become the first champion. Right now, the champion is Velveteen Dream and he beat Johnny Gargano on a February 2019 episode of NXT (recorded in January) to win the title.
