Nagqu Prefecture in Tibet Autonomous Region
Nagqu Prefecture (also known as Naqu or Nagchu) is the biggest prefecture in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Imagine a huge area, about 450,000 square kilometers, which is almost half of all the land in Tibet! In 2001, about 363,000 people lived there.
How Nagqu is Divided
Nagqu Prefecture is split into eleven different areas called counties. Think of them like smaller regions within a big state.
Nagqu's Capital and Other Counties
The main county, and also the capital city, is called Nagchu County. This is where the local government is located. The other ten counties are:
- Lhari County
- Biru County
- Nyainrong County
- Amdo County
- Xainza County
- Sog County
- Baingoin County
- Baqên County
- Nyima County
- Shuanghu Special District
