Naohiko Minobe's Playing Career
Naohiko Minobe started his football journey after finishing high school. In 1984, he joined a team called Matsushita Electric. This team later became known as Gamba Osaka. Minobe often played as a right side back, helping his team defend.
In 1990, his team, Matsushita Electric, won the Emperor's Cup. This was a very important win, as it was the club's first major championship title.
In 1994, Minobe moved to Kyoto Purple Sanga. At this club, he became the team captain. He played regularly and helped the team a lot. In 1995, even though he played less often, the club finished in second place. This success meant they were promoted to the J1 League, Japan's top football league. However, Minobe retired at the end of the 1995 season. He did not get to play in the J1 League with Kyoto Sanga.
Minobe's Managerial Career
After he stopped playing football, Naohiko Minobe became a coach. In 1996, he joined Kyoto Purple Sanga (which later became Kyoto Sanga FC) as a coach. For many years, until 2003, he mainly coached the club's youth teams.
Coaching Kyoto Sanga FC
In 2004, Minobe became a coach for Kyoto Sanga FC's main team. In October 2006, the team's manager was replaced, and Minobe took over as the new manager. However, the team's results were not good that season. As a result, the club was moved down to the J2 League, a lower division. Minobe started the 2007 season as manager, but he was replaced again in October of that year.
Managing Tokushima Vortis
In 2008, Minobe became the manager of Tokushima Vortis, another team in the J2 League. In his first year, the club finished at the very bottom of the league. However, the team improved a lot in the following seasons. By 2011, Tokushima Vortis finished in fourth place, showing great progress. Minobe left the club at the end of the 2011 season.
Leading AC Nagano Parceiro
In 2013, Minobe took on a new challenge. He signed with AC Nagano Parceiro, a club in the Japan Football League. He led this team to win the league championship that same year. This victory meant the club was promoted to the newly formed J3 League for the 2014 season. In 2014, AC Nagano Parceiro finished in second place in the J3 League. However, they lost in the special play-off games and could not be promoted to J2. In August 2015, Minobe resigned from his role due to health reasons, even though the team was doing well in third place.
