Naohiro Ishikawa was born in Yokosuka, Japan, on May 12, 1981. His professional football journey began in 2000 when he joined the Yokohama F. Marinos from their youth team.

Even though he was a talented player for Japan's under-20 national team, he didn't get to play much for the Marinos. So, in April 2002, he made a big move to FC Tokyo.

Success with FC Tokyo

At FC Tokyo, Ishikawa quickly became an important player. He helped the team win the J.League Cup in 2004 and again in 2009. The year 2009 was amazing for him. He scored 15 goals and was named one of the best players in the league, earning a spot in the J.League Best Eleven.

The team faced a tough time in 2010 and was moved down to the J2 League. But they bounced back right away! In 2011, Ishikawa helped FC Tokyo win the J2 League championship and the Emperor's Cup.

Later Years and Retirement

From 2012, FC Tokyo was back in the top J1 League. Unfortunately, Ishikawa struggled with injuries after 2014 and couldn't play as often. He decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2017 season, ending a long and successful career.

Playing for Japan

Ishikawa also had an exciting career playing for his country.

In 2001, he was chosen for the Japan U-20 national team to play in the 2001 World Youth Championship. He was given the famous number 10 jersey and played in all three of Japan's games.

Senior National Team

In December 2003, Ishikawa was selected for Japan's main national team for the first time. He made his debut on December 7 against Hong Kong.

The next year, he was part of the Japan U-23 national team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

After a break of five years, he was called back to the national team in 2009. In total, he played 6 games for Japan's senior team.
