Naohiro Ishikawa (born on May 12, 1981) is a famous Japanese footballer. He used to play as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defense. Naohiro was known for his speed and skill on the field. He played for big clubs in Japan and also represented his country, Japan, in many important international matches.

Naohiro Ishikawa: A Japanese Football Star

Naohiro Ishikawa was born in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Japan. He started playing football at a young age. He joined the youth team of Yokohama F. Marinos in 1997. This was the start of his exciting journey in professional football.

His Club Journey

Naohiro became a professional player with Yokohama F. Marinos in 2000. Even though he was a talented player for Japan's Under-20 team, he didn't play many games for his club at first.

In April 2002, he moved to FC Tokyo. This move changed his career. He quickly got many chances to play and showed off his skills. During the 2000s, FC Tokyo won two major championships: the 2004 J.League Cup and the 2009 J.League Cup.

A Star Player at FC Tokyo

In 2009, Naohiro had an amazing year. He scored 15 goals for FC Tokyo. Because of his excellent performance, he was chosen for the "Best Eleven" team of the league. This means he was one of the top 11 players in the entire league that year.

In 2010, FC Tokyo faced a challenge and moved down to the J2 League. But Naohiro and his team worked hard. In 2011, they won the J2 League championship. They also won the 2011 Emperor's Cup, which is another big tournament in Japan.

From 2012, FC Tokyo played in the top league again, the J1 League. Sadly, Naohiro started having injuries from 2014. These injuries made it difficult for him to play many matches. He decided to retire from football at the end of the 2017 season.

Playing for Japan

Naohiro also played for his country, Japan, at different levels.

Youth National Team

In June 2001, Naohiro was chosen for the Japan national under-20 football team. He played in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship. He wore the number 10 jersey, which is often given to a team's key player. He played every minute of all three matches in that tournament.

Senior National Team

In December 2003, Naohiro was selected for the main Japan national football team. He made his first appearance for Japan on December 7 against Hong Kong in the 2003 East Asian Football Championship. He also played for Japan in 2004.

In August 2004, he was part of the Japan national under-23 football team for the 2004 Summer Olympics.

After a break, Naohiro was called back to the Japan national team in August 2009. He played a total of 6 games for Japan until 2012.
