Naoki Takahashi's Football Journey

Starting His Career

Naoki Takahashi was born in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, on August 8, 1976. After finishing his studies at Fukuoka University, he began his professional football career. In 1999, he joined a team called Albirex Niigata. This was an exciting time for the club, as they had just been promoted to the J2 League. The J2 League is like the second main division of professional football in Japan.

Becoming a Key Player

Naoki quickly became an important player for Albirex Niigata. By July 1999, he was a regular starter for the team. He often played as a center back, which is a defensive position. He worked well with another defender named Sérgio.

Moving Up to the J1 League

In 2002, a new player, Yoshiaki Maruyama, joined the team. This meant Naoki didn't play as much as before. However, the team kept getting better! In 2003, Albirex Niigata won the J2 League championship. This big win meant they were promoted to the J1 League for the 2004 season. The J1 League is the top professional football division in Japan.

Final Season and Retirement

Naoki played many games again in 2005, helping his team in the top league. At the end of the 2005 season, Naoki Takahashi decided to retire from professional football. He played a total of 141 league games and scored 4 goals during his time with Albirex Niigata.
