Naoto Otake (大嶽 直人, Ōtake Naoto, born October 18, 1968) is a famous Japanese football player and manager. He played as a defender for several clubs. He also played for the Japan national team. As of 2025, he is the manager of the J3 League club, FC Osaka. His younger brother, Masato, was also a footballer.

Naoto Otake's Playing Career
Early Football Days
Naoto Otake started his football journey in high school. He played for Tokai University Daiichi High School. After that, he continued playing at Juntendo University. These early years helped him develop his skills.
Playing for Yokohama Flügels
In 1991, Otake joined a team called All Nippon Airways. This team later became Yokohama Flügels. This was when Japan's first professional league, the J1 League, began in 1993. Otake played for Yokohama Flügels for many years.
During his time with Yokohama Flügels, the team achieved great success. They won the 1993 Emperor's Cup, which was a big championship. They also won the 1994–95 Asian Cup Winners' Cup. This showed they were one of the best teams in Asia. Otake played 188 games for the club, scoring 2 goals.
Moving to Kyoto Sanga FC
In 1998, Otake moved to another club, Kyoto Purple Sanga. He continued his career there until 2001. He played 99 games for Kyoto Purple Sanga and scored 3 goals. After the 2001 season, he decided to retire as a player. In total, he played 287 club games and scored 5 goals.
Naoto Otake's National Team Career
Playing for Japan
Naoto Otake played once for the Japan national team. This was in a friendly match against Australia. The game took place on September 27, 1994, at the Tokyo National Stadium.
Asian Cup Success
Even though he only played one game, Otake was part of a very important team. He was a member of the Japan team that won the 1992 AFC Asian Cup. This was a huge achievement for Japanese football. Although he did not play in any matches during that tournament, he was still a valuable part of the winning squad.
Naoto Otake's Coaching Career
Starting as a Coach
After he stopped playing, Otake began his coaching career. In 2002, he started coaching at Kyoto Purple Sanga, his former club. He then coached at Yokohama F. Marinos.
Managing Iga FC Kunoichi
In 2010, Otake became the manager for L.League club Iga FC Kunoichi. He managed this team until 2012. He later returned to manage Iga FC Kunoichi again from 2018 to 2021.
Coaching Other Clubs
From 2013 to 2015, he coached at Giravanz Kitakyushu. He then returned to Kyoto Sanga FC and coached there from 2016 to 2017.
Recent Managerial Roles
In 2022, Otake became the manager for Kagoshima United, a club in the J3 League. He managed them until the end of 2023.
On December 12, 2023, it was announced that Naoto Otake would become the manager of FC Osaka starting from the 2024 season. He continues to manage FC Osaka in 2025.
