Naoya Ishigami was born on March 2, 1985, in Kamisu, Ibaraki, Japan. He grew up loving football and decided to make it his career. He is known for playing in the defender position, which means he helps protect his team's goal from opponents.
Starting Out: University and Early Career
Naoya Ishigami played football during his university years at Kanagawa University from 2003 to 2006. This is where he trained and got ready for professional football.
After university, he joined his first professional club, Kashima Antlers, in 2007. This was a big step for him, as Kashima Antlers is one of the most successful teams in Japan.
Winning Championships
While playing for Kashima Antlers, Naoya Ishigami achieved great success. He helped his team win the J1 League championship two times in a row, in 2007 and 2008. The J1 League is the top football league in Japan.
