Natashia L. Holmes (born April 25, 1975) is an American politician. She served as an alderman for the 7th ward in the city of Chicago. An alderman is like a city council member. They help make decisions for the city and represent the people living in their specific area, called a ward.
Natashia Holmes was chosen by the Chicago City Council and Mayor Rahm Emanuel. She took over from Sandi Jackson in February 2013.

Her Education and Early Career
Natashia Holmes studied at several universities. She earned a bachelor's degree from Alabama State University in 1997. Later, she received a master's degree in Community Planning from Auburn University in 2000. In 2011, she earned a law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Natashia Holmes is an urban planner. This means she helps design and plan how cities grow and develop. She worked on transportation planning for different groups. She also held roles with the Illinois Department of Transportation. This department helps manage roads and travel in Illinois.
Before becoming an alderman, she was a project manager. She worked for a company that helped with planning and public affairs. She also advised a group that studies environmental science. Plus, she helped out at a local school in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago.
