Natashia L. Holmes (born April 25, 1975) is an American politician. She served as an alderman for the 7th ward in the city of Chicago. An alderman is like a city council member. They help make decisions for their part of the city. Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago City Council chose her for this important job. She took over from Sandi Jackson in 2013.

Education and Early Career

Natashia Holmes studied at several universities. She earned a bachelor's degree from Alabama State University in 1997. Then, she got a master's degree in Community Planning from Auburn University in 2000. Later, in 2011, she earned a law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Natashia is an urban planner. This means she helps design and organize how cities grow. She worked for the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference. She also held positions with the Illinois Department of Transportation. Before becoming an alderman, she was a project manager for a consulting firm. She also helped advise the Institute for Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She was also a community representative for a local school in the South Shore neighborhood.

Serving as Alderman

Natashia Holmes became the alderman for Chicago's 7th ward. This happened on February 13, 2013. She was appointed by the Chicago City Council and Mayor Rahm Emanuel. She took the place of Sandi Jackson, who had resigned earlier that year for personal reasons. Natashia Holmes served as alderman until May 18, 2015.
