Rodney Mims Cook Jr. is the person who started the National Monuments Foundation. He is also its president. He works as a developer and designer, creating many beautiful structures.
Early Life and School
Rodney Mims Cook Jr. grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. His father, Rodney Mims Cook Sr., was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives. His mother, Bettijo, saved and restored an old historic house called Tullie Smith House. She moved it to the grounds of the Atlanta History Center. Rodney Mims Cook Jr. went to The Lovett School. He then earned a bachelor's degree from Washington and Lee University.
Career Highlights
In May 2008, Cook opened the Millennium Gate Museum. This museum is a very large classical monument. It was the biggest classical monument built in the U.S. since the Jefferson Memorial.
Awards and Recognition
Rodney Mims Cook Jr.'s organization, the National Monuments Foundation, has received important awards. In 2006, they won the Palladio Award. This award was for the best new public space in the United States. They won it for their work on the Peace and Justice Gate and Plaza.
