Nature in Art is a special museum and art gallery located at Wallsworth Hall in Twigworth, near Gloucester, England. It's the only museum in the world completely dedicated to art inspired by nature! You'll find all kinds of art here, made in many different ways, all showing the beauty of the natural world. This museum has even won special awards, being praised twice in the National Heritage Museum of the Year Awards.
About the Museum
Nature in Art is run by a group called the Nature in Art Trust. This trust is a registered charity, which means it's an organization that helps people or a cause without making a profit. It was started in 1982 and was first known as the "Society for Wildlife Art of the Nations."
In 1987, the Trust bought Wallsworth Hall, which is the beautiful building where the museum is located today. The museum's patron is Princess Alexandra, a member of the British Royal Family.
What You Can See
The museum has a permanent collection of amazing artworks. These are pieces that the museum owns and displays regularly. You can see works by famous nature artists like Eric Ennion, George Edward Lodge, David Shepherd, Archibald Thorburn, and Charles Tunnicliffe.
What's really cool is that the collection also includes art by more general artists, even someone as famous as Pablo Picasso, who also created art inspired by nature!
Special Exhibitions
Besides its permanent collection, Nature in Art often hosts special exhibitions. These are temporary shows that feature artworks loaned from other places or focus on a specific theme.
Some past exhibitions have highlighted the work of a single artist, such as Joy Adamson, Peter Scott, or David Shepherd. The museum has also hosted popular traveling exhibitions, like the annual Wildlife Photographer of the Year display, which shows incredible photos of animals and nature from around the world.
