Naum Torbov (born November 18, 1880 – died June 2, 1952) was a famous Bulgarian architect. He designed many important buildings, especially in Sofia, the capital city.
About Naum Torbov
Naum Torbov was born on November 18, 1880. His birthplace was a village called Gopeš, which was part of the Ottoman Empire at that time. His family later moved to Bulgaria and settled in the town of Oryahovo.
Naum loved to design buildings. He went to the National University of Arts in Bucharest, Romania. He studied architecture there and finished his studies in 1904.
After graduating, Naum Torbov returned to Bulgaria. He started working for the government in the Ministry of Public Buildings and Roads. In 1906, he became the head of the architecture department for the city of Sofia. Two years later, in 1908, he opened his own design office.
Naum Torbov was known for his unique style. He followed a design trend called "national romanticism." This style often used traditional Bulgarian elements in modern buildings. He designed over a hundred buildings. These included public buildings, homes, and factories. You can find his work in cities like Sofia, Oryahovo, Silistra, Botevgrad, and Mezdra.
