Nawab of Awadh facts for kids
The Nawab of Awadh (also called Oudh) was the title given to the leaders who ruled a region in India called Oudh or Awadh. These rulers were in power during the 1700s and 1800s. The Nawabs of Awadh came from a family (or dynasty) that had roots in a place called Nishapur.
The first Nawab of Awadh was Saadat Khan. He became the ruler in 1722. He was an important official, called a wazir, in the Mughal Empire. Saadat Khan was the person who started the state of Awadh.

The word Nawab was a special title for these rulers. It was used from 1722 until 1856. These leaders played a big part in the history of India. They helped shape the culture and politics of their time.
