Needmore is a small place in Ballard County, Kentucky, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. This community used to be known by a different name: Ogden.
The Story Behind the Name
Needmore has a really interesting story about how it got its name! The community was first called Ogden back in 1900. But in 1967, its name officially changed to Needmore.
This change happened because of a store owned by Thomas Brown. This store was open even before 1900. People often called it "needmore" because customers would say they "needed more" items than they could buy.
There was also a post office in Thomas Brown's store, which was named Ogden. When this post office closed in 1908, it caused some confusion. People were already used to calling the area "Needmore."
Because the name "Needmore" had been used by locals for a long time, even since World War I, the Board of Geographic Names decided in 1967 to make it the official name.
