Nelson Meurer (born July 23, 1942 – died July 12, 2020) was a Brazilian politician and farmer. He was born in Santa Catarina and later represented the state of Paraná in the national government.

Nelson Meurer's Political Journey
Before becoming a politician, Nelson Meurer worked as a farmer in Francisco Beltrão. He had a simple education and learned a lot from his work on the farm.
Serving as Mayor
In 1988, Nelson Meurer was chosen by the people to be the Mayor of Francisco Beltrão. As mayor, he was the main leader of the city. He served in this important role from 1989 until 1993.
Representing Paraná in Congress
After being mayor, Meurer decided to work in national politics. In 1994, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies. This is like being a representative in the country's parliament. He represented the state of Paraná.
He served his first term from 1995 to 1999. The people of Paraná re-elected him many times. He served a total of six terms as a Federal Deputy. This means he helped make laws for Brazil for many years. His last term ended in 2019.
Later Life and Passing
On July 12, 2020, Nelson Meurer passed away in Francisco Beltrão. He was 77 years old. His death was caused by problems from COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil.
