Nenana City School: Learning in Alaska
The Nenana City School (NCS) is the main public school run by the district. As of the 2017–2018 school year, about 179 students attended NCS. This school offers classes for all grades, from the youngest learners to high school seniors.
CyberLynx Correspondence Program
Beyond the regular classroom, the Nenana City School District also runs the CyberLynx Correspondence Program. This program offers a different way for students to learn. It allows them to study from a distance, often using online materials. This can be helpful for students who live far away or need a flexible learning schedule.
Student Living Center: A Home Away From Home
The Nenana Student Living Center (NSLC) is a special boarding facility for high school students. It is operated by the Nenana City School District. Students in grades 9 through 12 can live here while they attend the Nenana City School.
Who Lives at the Center?
As of 2018, about 77 students lived at the Nenana Student Living Center. These students come from many different parts of Alaska. The center provides a safe and supportive place for them to live. It helps them get a good education even if their homes are far from Nenana.
A Unique Opportunity in Alaska
The Nenana Student Living Center is one of only three such boarding facilities in the entire state of Alaska. Students who live at the center attend the regular Nenana City School classes. They are not separated into a different school program. In fact, students from the center make up a large part of the high school's enrollment, about 70%. This shows how important the center is to the school community.
