Neosheo is a small, unincorporated community located in Simpson County, Kentucky, in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place where people live together, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
Where is Neosheo Located?
Neosheo is found about four miles (or about 6.4 kilometers) west of Franklin, which is the main town and county seat of Simpson County. You can find Neosheo where two roads meet: Sulphur Springs Road (also known as Kentucky Highway 664) and Neosheo-Prices Mill Road (Kentucky Highway 1885).
A Look at Neosheo's History
In the past, there was an important building in Neosheo called the Neosheo Store. It was located on the southwest corner of the main intersection. This store was a local landmark for many years, but it was taken down in the 1970s.
Right across the road from where the old store stood, you can find the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. About half a mile west of the church was the old West Simpson Elementary School building. This school building is now owned by private individuals.
Neosheo was also known by another name long ago: the Georgia Settlement. This shows that the community has a rich history, even if it's a small place today.
