Simpson County is a special area of land in the south-central part of Kentucky, a state in the United States. It is like a local government area. In 2020, about 19,594 people lived here. The main town and government center of the county is Franklin.

History of Simpson County
Simpson County was created in 1819. It was formed from parts of three other counties: Allen, Logan, and Warren Counties.
The county is named after Captain John Simpson. He was a brave officer from Kentucky. Captain Simpson fought in a battle called the Battle of Fallen Timbers. This battle was part of the Northwest Indian War. Sadly, he was killed during the War of 1812 in the Battle of River Raisin.
Geography of Simpson County
Simpson County covers a total area of about 236 square miles. Most of this area, about 234 square miles, is land. A small part, about 2.3 square miles, is water.
The county is located in a region of Kentucky called the Pennyroyal Plateau. This area is known for its rolling hills and flat lands.
