Nerys Hughes (born 8 November 1941) is a famous actress and narrator from Wales. She is best known for her roles in popular BBC television shows like The Liver Birds and The District Nurse.

Early Life and School
Nerys Hughes was born in the town of Rhyl, Wales. Growing up, her first language was Welsh. Her parents sent her to Howell's School, where she discovered her love for acting and drama.
To follow her passion, she studied drama at Rose Bruford College. In 1960, she won a special award called the Carleton Hobbs Bursary, which helped her join the Radio Drama Company and start her professional acting career.
Acting Career
Nerys became a familiar face on British television. Her big break came when she starred as Sandra Hutchinson in the hit comedy series The Liver Birds. The show was about two young women sharing an apartment in Liverpool and was very popular from 1969 to 1978.
Later, she played the main character in The District Nurse from 1984 to 1987. This drama series was created just for her, and she won an award for her performance as the caring nurse Megan Roberts.
Sci-Fi and Fantasy Roles
Nerys Hughes has also appeared in some famous science-fiction shows.
- Doctor Who: In 1982, she played a scientist named Todd in the story Kinda, alongside the Fifth Doctor, played by Peter Davison.
