Nestor José Forster Júnior (born April 10, 1963) is a Brazilian diplomat. He served as the top representative, or Ambassador, from Brazil to the United States in Washington, D.C. An ambassador is like a special messenger who helps two countries work together and understand each other better.
He was chosen by President Jair Bolsonaro in 2019 to be Brazil's Ambassador to the United States. The Brazilian Senate officially approved his role in October 2020.

About Nestor Forster Jr.
His Early Life and Education
Nestor Forster Jr. was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1963. He studied at the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy, called the Rio Branco Institute, and finished his studies in 1986. This academy trains people to become diplomats.
His Career as a Diplomat
As a diplomat, Mr. Forster worked in several countries. He served in Canada, Costa Rica, and the United States. He worked at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, D.C., three different times. He also worked at Brazilian offices in Hartford, Connecticut, and New York City.
Mr. Forster also spent time working directly for the President of Brazil. He did this from 1990 to 1992 and again in 2002. He also led the staff at the Office of the Attorney General.
Becoming the Ambassador
Before becoming the official Ambassador, Mr. Forster was the Chargé d'Affaires at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, D.C. This means he was in charge temporarily. He held this role from June 2019 until he was confirmed as the Ambassador.
He spoke to the Brazilian Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee on February 13, 2020. They all agreed that he was a good choice. The full Brazilian Senate confirmed him on September 22, 2020.
His Family Life
Nestor Forster Jr. is married to Maria Thereza Diniz Forster. She is also a diplomat. They have two daughters and three grandchildren. He is also a fan of the football team Sport Club Internacional.
Working as Ambassador
Agreements Between Countries
During his time as Ambassador in Washington, Brazil and the United States worked on many important agreements. These agreements covered topics like trade, space exploration, and defense.
Trade and Business
The two countries signed a special agreement about trade rules. This agreement, called the Protocol on Trade Rules and Transparency, started in 2022. It helps make trade between Brazil and the U.S. smoother and clearer.
Space Exploration
In 2021, Brazil became the first country in Latin America to join NASA's Artemis program. This program aims to send humans back to the Moon. This agreement shows how Brazil and the U.S. are working together in space.
Defense Cooperation
Brazil and the United States also signed an agreement about defense. This agreement, called the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluations (RDT&E) Agreement, was signed in 2020 and became active in 2022. It helps both countries work together on new defense technologies.
