New Home, Missouri facts for kids
New Home is a small, quiet place in Bates County, Missouri. It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county area.
A Look Back: New Home's History
The community of New Home was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1869. This process is called "platting." It was given its name because of a large, important local property that was also called New Home.
A few years later, in 1872, a post office was opened in New Home. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. This post office helped the community stay connected until it closed down in 1902.
