New Market is a small community located in Piscataway in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It is an unincorporated community, which means it's a recognized place but doesn't have its own separate local government.
New Market was once known by a different name: Quibbletown. This interesting name came from a disagreement that happened long ago. People in the area argued about which day was the correct day for religious rest, either Saturday or Sunday. This historical "quibble" gave the community its unique old name.
