Where Did the Name Come From?
The community got its name from Martinsburg, West Virginia. Many of the very first people who settled in this area came from that town in West Virginia. It was like they brought a piece of their old home with them!
The Old Post Office
A post office opened in New Martinsburg in 1831, the same year the name changed. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1906.
