History of New Mount Pleasant
New Mount Pleasant was started a long time ago, in the year 1838. It was named after a special building called a "Friends meeting house" in a place called Mount Pleasant, Ohio. A Friends meeting house is a place of worship for Quakers, a religious group also known as the Religious Society of Friends.
Early Services: The Post Office
A post office was opened in New Mount Pleasant in 1839. This was a very important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1907.
