NUMU's Story

NUMU used to be called The Museums of Los Gatos. It had two parts: an art museum and a history museum at Forbes Mill. In June 2015, the museum reopened as NUMU. It now has three times more space for exhibits. This new space helps it be a community hub for everyone. It shares new ideas about San Francisco Bay Area history, art, and new inventions. The museum celebrated its 50th birthday in 2015.

What NUMU Does

The main goal of New Museum Los Gatos is to bring people together. It connects them through art, history, and education. They offer new and exciting exhibits. These exhibits are about local stories and things happening worldwide. NUMU wants visitors to have great experiences.

Cool Exhibitions

New Museum Los Gatos has two floors filled with gallery spaces. They host about 10 different art and history shows every year. These shows change often, so there's always something new to see! The museum building is 6,000 square feet. You can find it in the Los Gatos Civic Center.

Fun Programs and Workshops

NUMU offers many exciting programs. You can join in-person or online activities. They have workshops, youth programs, and classes. You can also listen to artists talk about their work.

The MakerSpace

The MakerSpace is a special studio at NUMU. Kids and families can explore, discover, and create here. They offer hands-on workshops and family art days. Girl Scout troops can even earn badges! Expert artists help you learn new ways to create. You can try different materials and art forms. These programs are inspired by the art and history in the museum's galleries.

The Flick Studio

The Flick Studio teaches traditional art skills. They have full classes for artists of all levels. You can learn new skills or improve ones you already have. Workshops include drawing, oil painting, and embroidery.
