New Pittsburg is a small community located in Wayne County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is an area that the U.S. Census Bureau identifies for collecting population data.
In 2020, about 303 people lived in New Pittsburg. The community is found northwest of a larger city called Wooster, Ohio. It is situated along U.S. Route 250, which is a major road.
History
New Pittsburg was first planned and laid out in the year 1829. This means its streets and lots were designed.
A post office was opened in the community in 1835. At first, it was called "New Pittsburgh" with an "h" at the end. The name was officially changed to "New Pittsburg" without the "h" in 1892. The post office eventually closed its operations in 1907.
