New Truxton was planned out in 1904. This happened when a railroad line was built all the way to that spot. The railroad helped connect the area to other places.

The community was named "New Truxton" for a special reason. They added "New" to the name. This was to make sure people didn't confuse it with another place. There was already a town called Truxton in nearby Lincoln County.
