Daily News (New York) facts for kids
The Daily News is a popular newspaper in New York City. It's known as a tabloid, which means it's usually smaller in size and often focuses on exciting stories and pictures. In 2009, it was one of the top five most-read daily newspapers in the United States.
The first New York Daily News was started by Benjamin Wood. However, that newspaper stopped publishing after his death. Later, in 1919, Joseph Medill Patterson created a new newspaper with the same name. This new Daily News was America's first official tabloid newspaper. Over the years, the paper has won 10 Pulitzer Prizes, which are very important awards for journalism.
