About Newport Cricket Club
Newport Cricket Club is a well-known cricket club in South Wales. It offers a chance for people to play and enjoy cricket. The club has teams for adults, known as XIs, which play in the SWALEC Premier Cricket League and the Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League.
Teams for Young Players
NCC is also a great place for young people to learn and play cricket. The club has eight youth teams. These teams are for different age groups, including Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, and Under 17. There is also a special Newport Girls team. All these youth teams compete in the Monmouthshire Building Society Youth Cricket League. This helps young cricketers develop their skills and love for the game.
Club History and Home Ground
Newport Cricket Club has a long history, dating back to 1834. For many years, the club was based at a place called Rodney Parade in the centre of Newport.
Moving to a New Location
Eventually, the land at Rodney Parade was sold. A new primary school, Maindee Primary, was built on that site. Because of this, Newport Cricket Club moved to a new home. Their current location is at the Newport International Sports Village. This modern sports complex provides excellent facilities for the club's teams and players.
