Ngọc Sơn was born in Đồ Sơn, a place in Hai Phong, Vietnam. He grew up with his two brothers, Ngoc Hai and Ngoc Ha. Together, they have worked on many music projects and shows.

Ngọc Sơn is known for singing many different kinds of music. His songs include traditional Vietnamese folk music, but he also sings modern styles like pop, rap, and rock. This wide range of music makes him popular with many fans.
He started his music career early and quickly gained recognition. In 1985, he won an award called the Voice of the Western Provinces. A few years later, in 1989, he was named the Affectionate Singer in Nha Trang. His album, "Ngọc Sơn Pop CD 1," also won a special award called the Winners Gold Record in 1997. These awards show how talented he is and how much people enjoy his music.
