Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Ngolokwangga are an Aboriginal Australian people. They come from the Northern Territory in Australia. They are an important part of Australia's diverse Indigenous cultures.

Ngolokwangga Language

The Ngolokwangga people spoke a language called Mulluk-Mulluk. This language is part of a group known as the Daly languages, which are spoken by different Aboriginal groups in the Daly River region.

Ngolokwangga Homeland

The traditional land of the Ngolokwangga people was located inland from another group called the Pongaponga. Their homeland stretched along both sides of the Daly River. According to researcher Norman Tindale, their territory covered about 1,036 square kilometers (400 square miles).

The Ngolokwangga Community

It is thought that the Yunggor people might have been a smaller group, or clan, within the Ngolokwangga community. In 2006, an Australian census counted 37 people who identified as Ngolokwangga. This shows they are a small but significant group.
