Ngozi Ezeonu is a famous Nigerian actress. She was born on May 23, 1965. Her birth name was Ngozi Ikpelue. She is well-known for playing motherly roles in Nigerian movies, often called Nollywood films. In 2012, she was nominated for a "Best Supporting Actress" award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards for her role in the movie Adesuwa. She even won this award!

Early Life and Education

Ngozi Ezeonu grew up in Owerri, Nigeria. Her family was from Ogbunike in Anambra State. She has six brothers and sisters.

She went to primary and secondary school in Owerri. Before she became a famous actress, Ngozi studied Journalism. She earned a diploma from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Lagos. After her studies, she worked as a journalist for Radio Lagos and Eko FM.

Acting Career

Ngozi Ezeonu is best known for playing motherly characters in movies. However, when she first started acting, she played younger roles. She even worked as a hairstylist for a while!

In 1993, a famous film director named Zeb Ejiro gave Ngozi a role. She played Nkechi, a friend of the bad guy, in the Igbo movie Nneka the Pretty Serpent (1994). The same year, she also starred in Glamour Girls. In this movie, she played Thelma. These early roles showed that she could act in many different ways.

Ngozi Ezeonu has acted in over 200 movies in Nollywood. She has been honored for her important work in helping Nollywood grow. In 2023, she received the "Sun Nollywood Icon of the Year" award.

Personal Life

Ngozi Ezeonu was married to Edwin Ezeonu. They have four children together.

In 2012, she received a special honor in her hometown of Ihiteoweri, Imo state. She was given the Chieftaincy Title "Ada Ife". This title means "daughter of light".
