Nicholas Barnewall, 14th Baron Trimlestown (born June 8, 1726 – died April 16, 1813) was an important Irish landowner. He was known for his connection to the Roebuck Estate in County Dublin, Ireland. A "Baron" is a noble title, often passed down through families.

Nicholas was the son of Richard Barnewall. His mother was Frances Barnewall, who was also a distant cousin. He became the 14th Baron Trimlestown in 1796. This happened after his cousin, Thomas Barnewall, the 13th Baron, passed away.

Family Life

Nicholas Barnewall had two wives during his lifetime.

His First Marriage

Nicholas first married Martha Henrietta. She was the only daughter of Joseph d'Aguin, who was a president in the Parliament of Toulouse in France. Together, Nicholas and Martha had three children:

  • Richard, who sadly died when he was young.
  • John Thomas, who later became the next Baron Trimlestown.
  • Rosalie, who married Peter, Count D'Alton. They lived in Grenanstown, County Tipperary, and had their own children.

His Second Marriage

After Martha passed away, Nicholas married Alicia Eustace. Her parents were General Charles Eustace and Alice McAusland. Alicia lived many years longer than Nicholas. She later married General Sir Evan Lloyd. From her second marriage, Alicia had more children, including a daughter named Louisa-Anne. Louisa-Anne later married Sir Willoughby Dixie, who was the 8th Baronet of the Dixie Baronets.
