Nicholas Love (1608–1682) was an English lawyer. He is known for his role in the trial of King Charles I of England. Love was one of the people who judged the king.

Early Life and Education
Nicholas Love was born in 1608. His father was also named Nicholas Love. Young Nicholas went to Winchester College for his schooling. Later, he studied at Wadham College, Oxford. He earned his Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in 1636. In the same year, he became a barrister, which is a type of lawyer, at Lincoln's Inn.
Political Career
In 1645, Nicholas Love was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Winchester. This meant he represented Winchester in the English Parliament.
The King's Trial
Nicholas Love was one of the judges during the trial of King Charles I. This trial was a very important event in English history. Even though he was a judge, Love did not sign the paper that ordered the king's death.
Later Parliament Work
Love kept his position as an M.P. for Winchester in a special parliament in 1659. This parliament was sometimes called the "Rump Parliament."
Escape and Later Life
In 1660, the monarchy was brought back to England. This event is known as the Restoration. Because of his role in the king's trial, Nicholas Love had to leave England. He escaped to Switzerland. He lived there until he died in 1682 in a town called Vevey.
