Nichole Perkins is an American poet, writer, and podcaster. She is known for her creative work. From 2017 to 2020, she co-hosted a podcast called Thirst Aid Kit with Bim Adewunmi. Nichole Perkins has also written a poetry collection titled Lilith, But Dark (published in 2018). Her memoir, Sometimes I Trip on How Happy We Could Be, came out in 2021.

About Nichole Perkins
Nichole Perkins was born and grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. As a child, she loved reading books. She enjoyed authors like Beverly Cleary and Mildred Taylor. She also started reading romance novels when she was young. Nichole went to Dillard University in New Orleans. This university is an HBCU.
Starting a Writing Career
In 2017, Perkins moved to New York City. She wanted to become a professional writer. She received a special fellowship at BuzzFeed. During this time, she wrote many personal essays. Some of these essays were later included in her memoir.
While at BuzzFeed, she and her friend Bim Adewunmi started a podcast. They both enjoyed talking about celebrity crushes. This led them to create Thirst Aid Kit. The podcast began in 2017. It quickly became very popular. Vanity Fair magazine called it "an instant serotonin boost." The hosts decided to end Thirst Aid Kit in 2020.
Published Works
Nichole Perkins released her first book in 2018. It was a poetry collection named Lilith, But Dark. It was published by Publishing Genius. The actress Amber Tamblyn reviewed the book. She said it was a "beautifully aching and illuminating portrait of a Black woman’s life."
Her memoir, Sometimes I Trip on How Happy We Could Be, was released on August 17, 2021. She wrote most of this book during the COVID-19 pandemic. The book is a collection of essays. It shares Perkins' thoughts on pop culture. She connects these thoughts to her own life experiences. This includes past relationships, mental health, and family. The book's title comes from a lyric in the Prince song "If I Was Your Girlfriend." Many places, like Publishers Weekly, gave the book good reviews.
In 2021, Perkins started another podcast. It is called This Is Good For You. On this podcast, she talks about things that bring joy and pleasure. She is also planning to release a romance novel in the future.
