A few years later, in 1847, the area was re-mapped. The name was then changed to Nicholsville. This new name honored Nathan B. Nichols, who became the new owner of the store. A post office, where people could send and receive mail, opened in Nicholsville in 1846. It stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1906.
