Nickelodeon Resorts by Marriott was a plan for a group of hotels that would have themes based on the popular TV channel, Nickelodeon. These resorts were going to be built by three big companies working together.
Viacom (which owns Nickelodeon) was involved because it owned the brand. Miller Global Properties, LLC was a company that builds and owns resorts. Marriott International was going to manage and operate the hotels.

What Was Planned for the Resorts?
The very first Nickelodeon-themed hotel was supposed to open in 2010. It was planned for a place called Liberty Station in San Diego, California.
Features of the First Hotel
This first hotel was designed to be quite large. It would have had 650 rooms for guests. A huge water park, about 100,000 square feet (9,300 square meters), was also planned. There would have been other fun attractions too.
Big Dreams for More Hotels
The San Diego hotel was meant to be just the beginning. The plan was to build 20 Nickelodeon Resorts by the year 2020. This would have created a whole chain of themed hotels across different locations.
Why the Project Was Cancelled
Sadly, the entire project was stopped in 2009. This happened during a tough economic time called the Great Recession. A recession is when the economy slows down a lot, and many businesses struggle. Because of this, the companies decided not to go ahead with building the resorts.
What Happened Next?
It's not clear what will happen with the idea of the other 19 hotels. Marriott and Nickelodeon still work together sometimes. They offer special Nickelodeon-themed weekend trips at some of Marriott's existing hotels. However, the big plan for a whole chain of Nickelodeon Resorts never came true.
