Early Life and Education
Nicolás Terrados was born in a town called Espelúy. He studied at the University of Oviedo and became a medical doctor in 1991. His special project for graduation was about how physical exercise at high altitudes affects muscles.
Career Highlights
In 1988, Dr. Terrados started working with the Spanish Olympic Sports Association as a doctor. He helped monitor several Olympic teams. He continued this work until the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. During this time, he was also part of the medical team for the Spanish Olympic Committee.
From 1998 to 2002, Dr. Terrados was the chief of medical services for the ONCE cycling team. He helped the cyclists with their health and performance.
In 2004, Dr. Terrados became the director of the Unit of High Performance Sports Medicine in Avilés. This unit helps top athletes improve their performance safely. During the 2011/2012 La Liga season, he also worked with the medical team of Sevilla FC, a well-known football club. He joined them at the request of their manager, Marcelino García Toral.
In 2015, Dr. Terrados helped the famous basketball player Pau Gasol prepare for the European Championship.
