The 1992 Summer Olympics were a huge international sports event. They were officially called the Games of the XXV Olympiad. These exciting games took place in Barcelona, Spain, from July 25 to August 9, 1992. Athletes from all over the world came together to compete in many different sports. About the 1992 Barcelona Olympics

The 1992 Summer Olympics were a very special event for Barcelona. It was the first time the city had ever hosted the Olympic Games. The city worked hard to prepare for the event. Many new sports venues and buildings were constructed. The Games brought a lot of attention and visitors to Barcelona.

The 1992 Barcelona Olympics had many memorable moments. One of the most famous was the performance of the United States men's basketball team. This team was known as the "Dream Team." It was the first time professional basketball players from the U.S. were allowed to play in the Olympics. Stars like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird were on the team. They easily won the gold medal.

Another exciting moment was the lighting of the Olympic cauldron. An archer named Antonio Rebollo shot a flaming arrow over the cauldron. The arrow appeared to light the flame, which was a spectacular sight.

The Official Mascot: Cobi

Every Olympic Games has a mascot. The mascot for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics was named Cobi. Cobi was a cartoon dog designed by Javier Mariscal. He was drawn in a cubist style, which means he looked like he was made of geometric shapes. Cobi became very popular and was seen everywhere during the Games.
