1928 Winter Olympics facts for kids
The 1928 Winter Olympics were a big sports event held in 1928 in St. Moritz, Switzerland. These Games were officially known as the II Olympic Winter Games. They were very special because they were the first time the Winter Olympics happened all by themselves. Before 1928, winter sports events were usually part of the Summer Olympics. For example, the 1924 Winter Olympics were actually part of the 1924 Summer Games, even though they were later called "Winter Olympics." So, the 1928 Games were a new start for winter sports on the world stage!
Countries at the 1928 Winter Olympics
Many countries sent their best athletes to compete in the 1928 Winter Olympics. A total of 25 nations took part, which was a big jump from the 16 nations that competed in 1924. This was the first time many countries joined the Winter Olympic Games. Some of these new countries included Argentina, Estonia, Germany, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, and Romania.
