The Nine Mile River is a small river located in Wiltshire, England. It flows through a lovely part of the English countryside. This river is quite interesting, especially because of its name.

About the Nine Mile River

The Nine Mile River is a short waterway in Wiltshire. It is not actually nine miles long. Its name comes from a historical reason. People who drove carts long ago thought they were nine miles from Salisbury when they reached this river.

Where the River Flows

The river begins its journey near a place called Milston. This is also in Wiltshire. As it flows, it passes through the countryside. About halfway along its path, another small stream joins it. This stream is called the Damson Brook. The Damson Brook also meets the Nine Mile River in the Milston area.

The Nine Mile River continues its flow until it reaches the village of Bulford. In Bulford, it joins a larger river. This bigger river is the River Avon. The River Avon is an important river in southern England.
