Location in New York

Nineveh is a small community in Broome County, New York. It's often called a hamlet, which means it's a tiny village without its own local government. About fifty homes are located here, right by the Susquehanna River. Nineveh is part of the larger Town of Colesville and is close to the city of Binghamton.

The name Nineveh comes from an ancient city called Nineveh. That old city was very important in the ancient kingdom of Assyria, which is now part of Iraq.

Nineveh is located along the railway tracks of the Delaware and Hudson Railway. You can also see a special bridge, called a trestle, there. The main road through Nineveh is New York State Route 7. Along this road, you'll find a few small shops that help the people living in Nineveh with their everyday needs.

In June 2006, the Susquehanna River had a lot of flooding. This caused many homes along the riverbanks in Nineveh to be covered in water.
