Who are the Nisga'a People?

What Was the Nisga'a Tribal Council?

The Nisga'a Treaty

It was signed in 1998 and officially came into effect in 2000. This treaty was a very important moment for the Nisga'a Nation. The Nisga'a Lisims Government
When the Nisga'a Treaty was signed, the Nisga'a Tribal Council was replaced by a new government called the Nisga'a Lisims Government. This new government is the official governing body of the Nisga'a Nation today. It is responsible for making laws, managing services, and looking after the well-being of the Nisga'a people. The Nisga'a Lisims Government operates much like other governments, but it focuses on the unique needs and culture of the Nisga'a Nation. It is a symbol of the Nisga'a people's self-determination and their ability to manage their own affairs.
